FYI- Polite Way of Asking Family Names

大家好! 我是Jenny！

When we try to ask someone's family name, we usually say  “你姓什么？”  (nǐ xìng shí me? )

However, in lots of formal situations (especially in business situation), we can use “贵姓” (guì xìng ) to show our respect to the other person.

“贵” means expensive by itself, but it also contains the meaning of "honorable" "noble". 

例：
△  (you and your new classmate) -casual way of asking
     You : 你姓什么？ (nǐ xìng shí me? )
     Classmate: 我姓Liu。(wǒ xìng Liu)

△  (you and your client)
    You: 请问您贵姓？(qǐng wèn nín guì xìng?) -polite way of asking
    Client: 我姓Liu。(wǒ xìng Liu)

*you can always add “请问” (qǐng wèn) in the beginning to make it sounds even more polite.

今天我一开门就看到了一只大蜘蛛！Σ（・□・；）
把我吓了一大跳！
不知道大家有没有遇到过类似的情况？((´∀｀))
刚刚所提到的“一......就......”其实就是我们今天要讲到的句型，让我们一起来看看怎么用吧！

一......就......  (yī......jiù......)

**the second act immediately follows the first act 


例：

△ 我一回家就给你打电话。(Wǒ yì huí jiā jiù gěi nǐ dǎ diàn huà)
    I will give you a call as soon as I get home. 

△  我一下班就去找你。(Wǒ yí xià bān jiù qù zhǎo nǐ )
    I will come find you right after work. 

△  她一到了餐厅就跑到洗手间里。(Tā yí dào le cān tīng jiù pǎo dào xǐ shǒu jiān lǐ 。)
    She ran toward the washroom as soon as she arrived to the restaurant.

Jenny's Diary- 希腊游

大家好！我是Jenny！

上个星期我去了希腊旅游 ヾ(*´∀`*)ﾉ
（shàng gè xīng qī wǒ qù le xī là lǚ yóu ）

那儿有很多来自世界各地的游客，风景也美极了。
（nàr yǒu hěn duō lái zì shì jiè gè dì de yóu kè，fēng jǐng yě měi jí le。）

虽然走了很多路很累，但是能够看到这么美丽的景色也值了！
（suī rán zǒu le hěn duō lù hěn lèi，dàn shì néng gòu kàn dào zhè me měi lì de jǐng sè yě zhí le！）

有机会的话，大家也一定要去那里玩儿玩儿！(・∀・）

Grammar- Using “还是” to ask "OR" Question in Chinese

大家好！我是Jenny！

Today, let discuss the way to ask an "or" question in Chinese.


还是 hái shì 

例：     

△ 你喜欢吃饺子还是米饭？（Nǐ xǐ huān chī jiǎo zǐ hái shì mǐ fàn ）

     Do you like to eat dumplings or rice? 

             

△  你明天想看电影还是逛街？（Nǐ míng tiān xiǎng qù kàn diàn yǐng hái shì guàng jiē）

      Do you want to watch movie or go shopping tomorrow?

△  你昨天去了图书馆还是朋友家？（Nǐ zuó tiān qù le tú shū guǎn hái shì péng yǒu jiā）

      Did you go to the library or your friend's home yesterday?

※ 还是 can only be used in question but not statement. We use 或者（huò zhě ）instead to express an "or" statement. 

x  我想吃火锅还是拉面。
○  我想吃火锅或者拉面。（ Wǒ xiǎng chī huǒ guō huò zhě lā miàn）
    I want to eat either hot pot or ramen.
